I think that it has been difficult for the oncology profession to admit that the chemo program has been a total failure. That this is a peer-reviewed article that will get notice is signs of hope. The definition of insanity is when you keep doing the same thing over and over, and expect to get different results.

It does help me understand a friends situation. She had advanced pancreatic cancer, and the onc recomended chemo, and was tossing out a prognosis of 25%. I knew that this was total bunk. She thought that she had a chance. So what the on cwas saying was that her survival odds of < .1% would be increased 25%, which makes them < .125. I think tha tif she would have been given this figure, she might have been more inclined to consider alternatives inthe few months of health that she had.
