2tuff....maybe you can answer this...although not about cancer.
Long story short. My 81 year old mother had a urinary tract infection and took a fall. She wound up in the hospital on psycotropic drugs. She has dementia and after filling her with mind altering chemicals they proceded to try to convice us that her unusual behavior was "her" and that she needed to be managed on these drugs for the rest of her life, and/or in a nursing home.
I would have none of it and was able to get her off the drugs and back home and she is doing fine.
But...I knew that part of the reason for her mental decline was due to diet soda's/aspartame that she had been drinking for the last several years but could not get anyone (family) on board with me. After holding out on the mental issue, and seeing the improvement, finding a doc who believes me and is supportive of getting her off ot the soda (both kinds), my family is now not fighting me on stopping the aspartame. It also helped that the new doc agrees with me. Therefore she is off
Aspartame and has been for about 3 weeks.
So now...I'm hoping to keep her off the
Aspartame and again see some small improvements and prove futher success to the family. I've read that for some, it will take 60 days off the
Aspartame to see improvements. I'm not looking for miracles just enough to help an old lady stay in her home and not in a nursing home. And maybe improve her appetite, decrease ringing in the ears, and see small improvements in her mental capacity. Sometimes I think I already see improvements.
Anyway, was wondering what you would suggest to assist in helping her memory. I'm thinking Fish Oil and antioxidants. The antioxidants however would have to be in the way of supplements.
Thanks for your time,
Darlene
