Actually, you need only 1/2 cup of olive oil for usual cleanse.

But it doesn't matter much what kind of oil you use.
Cleanse success does not depend on what kind of olive oil you use.

The only important is that you can digest it.

Exta virgin olive oil is cold pressed olive oil, unprocessed.
As the most of the oil that you will use in your cleanse will be absorbed by intestines, you don't really want to absorbe oil that have been heated, (potentially harmfull oil) because heated oils are one of the cofactor in Gallstones formation.

So, that's the reason why exta virgin olive oil is recommended.
