High Cholesterol level.

Hello,
Today me and my husband went for a physical and his results on cholesterol wasn't very pleasent.

total cholesterol 320
HDL 64
TRIGLYCERIDES 170
LDL 223
GLUCOSE 98
BLOOD PRESSURE 114/80

The doctor sayd that this might be hereditary, because we are very active, don't smoke, eat preatty well, we try to eat a high protein diet, always watching our weight.
He is 6' and 196 lbs.
With a BMI 26.8
and boddy fat% 19.3

What is the best thing for him to do? The doctor told him to take 1200mg of red yeast rice, we don't eat much red meat maybe once a month.

Another question that I have, we were fasting but I tought that they would take our blood and send to the lab, but instead they only poked our finger and put some of the blood in a stick, is that an accure method???
Thank you all for your support.
