About immaturity in a relationship

Hello all, I am new here. anyways, I am 21 and the guy I am dating is 26. we have just been dating about a month. Well the problem i am having is that he wont and cant say "i miss you" or call me "babe" as he usually does when he is in front of his friends, whether its in person with me and his friends there or whether its on the phone with me and his friends are in the room. I dont want to come off as a nag or bitch but i think this is stupid and immature of him. so junior-highish. he wont do these things because he doesnt want to get made fun of. any ideas would help on how to stop this now. is he embarassed of me or something?
