Re: Candida n sugar
Richard,
I don't know if it was me who wrote last time, but I can tell you that it is VERY important to avoid
Sugar and carbs when you're fighting candida.
Sugar is what candida thrives on, and carbs are converted to simple sugars once inside the body and also serves as a food supply for it. Probiotics are also VERY VERY important for the replacement of your intestinal flora. This is usually how candidiasis gets started, from the destruction of our flora due to
Antibiotics , oral steroid medications, and/or birth control pills. Candida is an opportunistic parasite, and when it gets the chance, and given the right foods will grow and spread like wildfire. Although symptomatically it is very slow in showing itself until it is quite deeply embedded. As important as probiotics are in treating candida, it is first necessary to use yeast/candida fighting drugs or herbs. If you are lucky enough to find a doctor who will treat you, Diflucan, Nystatin, Nizoral, or Lamisil are 4 of the top antifungals that will destroy candida. The Lamisil, Nizoral, and Diflucan are very potent, therefore it would be necessary to do regular liver tests to make sure there are no adverse affects or toxicity. Nystatin is the probably the least potent of the 4, but is still effective and not as damaging to the liver. Most doctors will only prescribe these drugs short term, and in some cases I have seen only one dose of Diflucan given. This is hardly adequate to reach deeply entrenched candida. In cases of nail fungus, where the fungus has worked its way into the nail bed, it may be necessary to remain on the drug for months, and even over a year, in order to reach the problem. Non-drug yeast fighters include Garlic, Pau 'd Arco, Green
Black-Walnut Hulls,
Wormwood , Olive Leaf Extract, Caprol (Caprylic Acid), MSM, and
Colloidal Silver (in small doses).
I hope this has answered your question as far as probiotics and sugar. Perhaps I went a little overboard but once I get started on this its hard to stop.
