There are many different materials, and many are called porcelain.

One material that is god for quite many people is "CEREC".
Try to search the web on that material.

The problem with crowns (those one that cover the whole tooth) is not ONLY kind of material that is used. There is mush worst problem, and that is unaerobic bacteria that may be living under the crown and may be producing dangerous toxins. Research the subject of root canal, before you start implementing any changes.

Sometimes, it is healthier not to make changes!
