COLITIS

My symptoms started earlier this year (8 mos ago). I started having liquidy type bowel movements often later in the day after having had a normal b/m in the morning, accompanied by a lot of gas. symptoms got worse gradually, with blood & mucous discharge, and falling energy level.

I had a sigmoidscopy 2 weeks ago and was diagnosed with UC and prescribed 2 X 4 times ASACOL (400MG).

I have partly read ELAINE's SCD diet book (still reading it), and have made some adjustments in my diet. I have not taken any milk or potatoes for a few days and no grain products except 1 or 2 toasts a day. I am eating eggs, beef, chicken, fish and vegetables and fruit.

Since my limited change in the diet, I have had 2 or 3 episodes of
sudden drop in energy level which was scary, as if I just wanted to go to sleep (from which I feared I won't wake up!). I resisted the urge and grabbed something to eat instead and felt better.
Can anyone explain what this was? My earlier blood sample says I am
not anaemic.

Also, I would like to ask if there is any benefit to my pursuing this diet (in part or full), while I am on medication ?

Also, I was at a local health store, and came across a product called BIO-K+ with cl1285. Pamphlet accompanying this, says it
" enhances intestinal health " and is beneficial for colitis and
other IBD's. Is this product ok under the SCD diet ?

Also, what about acidophilus in capsule form made under brand name
Natural Factors ? Is this ok ?
