Re: raw food in the winter?

I've had a very hard time doing raw in the winters. Sometime in October I start missing cooked memories. Sometime in November with the holidays & colder weather it gets worse. By December & January I'm having mood shifts, anger, etc. So last year I sat down to try to meet the challenge. I mentally reviewed what I knew about macrobiotics & Kushi stuff, Ayurveda, and some other things and came up with the following changes I thought would help me this year.

1. Recognize the UPCOMING. Start eating fall seasonal food in September even if I'm still ok with fresh greens & juices to help transition.

2. Enjoy more root vegetables & squashes & alliums (onions, etc.) which help to give some autumn satisfaction.

3. Start warming things I normally eat at room temp earlier in the season and continue this throughout the winter and consume more of these throughout the day.

4. Use some prepared/self-made herb blends in moderation that aren't used the rest of the year. Blend new combinations.

5. Try some new things at the market I don't normally eat.

6. Create more interest in preparation, going for more chunky cuts or some finer blends.

7. Not a food item, but I found using aromatherapy including pine scents and wintergreen, etc. helped my mood and made me feel more seasonal.

8. Take the time to make some holiday treats, like raw cakes & pies & seed crackers.

Last year I think I way overdid the cayenne & ginger & nuts, though they're invaluable and on the menu for this year-end also. And luckily we have this forum for inspiration! Maybe some of the above could be helpful....
