Re: Thanks Jake - I put this information to use.
After reading your post that you put up several days ago, I was motivated to buy some HCL, multi-enzyme supplement, and ox bile. I have only been using this for 2 days, but the very first meal I tried it, it made a huge difference. I couldn't believe your story (went to many professional ND's, spent thousands, and not one of them suggested HCL). I read about HCL in one of the first books I read on candida. At the time I tried it for a few days, overdosed on it once, and decided I didn't like it. After that I tried using apple cider vinegar instead. A couple of months later my pH really seemed to drop, and I decided not to use the apple cider vinegar, with the idea that it was making me more acid. After this I was mostly eating raw ginger, and taking some very cheap multi-enzyme tablets I bought at Wal-mart.
I figured out in the last 2 months, that one of my biggest problems is small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. After reading your post, it occured to me that one of the best ways to attack this would be with high quality enzymes and HCL, so that the food would get digested before the bad bugs had a chance to feed on it. After comparing my multienzyme supplement from Wal-mart to others on the market, I realized it was a vastly inferior product. I am currently taking Essential Enzymes, along with the HCL(4 - 650 mg. tablets with each meal), and ox bile. I guess sometimes, it doesn't pay to cut corners trying to save money (the Wal-mart brand was only $7.00, the stuff I'm buying now is $20.00) I don't think it will totally "cure" me but it was definitely a step in the right direction. Thanks so much for bringing it to my attention.
