Re: STARVING really works

Starving does help eliminate diysbiosis in the gut (whether fungal, bacterial, parasitical in nature).
Also, giving the digestive system a break helps rebuild and rebalance itself; the problem lies in the extended amount of time required to fast (from what I read 10-21 days is optimal for severe cases).
That's why enteral type formulas are available, specially for underweight people who cannot afford on going for those extended amount of fasting times.
The goal of these types of formulas is to provide the most basic and immediately absorbable nutrients required to function. A good enteral formula should contain large amounts of free form aminoacids, EFA, easily absorbed simple carbohydrates, and vitamins and minerals. The key is that they must be readily absorbable so they won't reach the gut where dysbiosis lies. This way you will be nurtured and the dysbiosis will starve. Typically, people with dysbiosis (candida included) have digestion problems (improper digestion of food due to things like low stomach acid, low enzyme levels, blocked bile flow) so a no solid food diet will not allow the bad organisms to be fed from our improper digestion issue.
Master cleanse type fast accomplishes the same thing however it seems to be more drastic and harder to keep up.
