Another thing, in my case, I have a visual reference to the cells infecting me. By studying the morphology, I was able to determine the type of fungus\yeast, and by symptoms I could varify the specificity of the infection. This does not mean there are not other factors involved such as bacteria or virusus. It could have been a virus which allowed the C. neoformans to gain entry and establishment in the first place.
