"Although low selenium levels have been recorded in infants, no specific human disorder has been linked to low selenium status. The incidence of thrush, the common enteric fungal infection caused by Candida albicans, has increased markedly with
Antibiotic therapy and research has provided evidence that its colonization leads to competition for Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) in the host. Furthermore it is now known that ubiquinones are essential in heart muscle for oxidative phosphorylation in the mitochondrial respiratory chain and considered that glutathione peroxidase (GSHPx) in the mitochondria protects ubiquinone from oxidation."
I still don't understand why doctors don't recognise Candida when there are so many scientific citations that mention it.
Anyway, I won't take CoQ10 because it is so expensive...
It's interesting how Dr. Ray D. Strand, author of "What Your Doctor Doesn’t Know About Nutritional Medicine May Be Killing You", doesn't talk about Candida, but he mentions treating patients with fibromyalgia using Grape Seed Extract (400-500mg) and CoQ10 (100-200 of the less-absorbable form, the one in capsules), and seeing benefits after about 3 months. Given the relation between candida and fibromyalgia, this is interesting.
I feel Candida is related to so many diseases.
