Re: very informative site on leaky gut - please read
yes healing the gut i think is the most important thing - that is where all of the
food allergies and reactions come from. the problem is you can't really heal the gut until you clean out all of the yeast because the yeast is what causes the leaky gut in the first place! it is a vicious cycle!!
i think the two key things to beating this thing are the liver and the intestines. if you can clean out your bowel and intestines and destress the liver which keeps getting overloaded with toxins you WILL beat it. but cleaning up those two things isn't easy by any means! and anytime you have a slip with food the yeast multiplies and can mutate into new strains. i will beat this thing somehow...i am still working on figuring out what works for me right now. after a few posts today i am reconsidering this alkaline/acidity issue. i had read a lot about this in the past but didn't place that much importance on this factor. i was too busy just eating anything that didn't cause a reaction in me i.e. PROTEIN in the form of meat and that is a bad idea! it is just too easy to eat of piece of cold chicken in the fridge when i am hungry. now i am realizing i may need to rethink my approach to this whole thing.
we all know yeast thrives in an acidic environment so i think i really am going to try to alkalize my body and stay alkalized so the yeast can't survive in my intestines anymore (where some say is the only place the yeast actually lives). i think once i do this it will really help the other organs start to heal on their own without placing so much emphasis on trying to fix everything all at once. it is just getting too overwhelming taking so many pills. i actually find i seem to do better when i just manage my diet alone and quit popping pills. so i am going to focus on digestion and restoration of good bacteria and that alone for a few weeks and see how i do with that and only that. i think i am finally realizing that this thing needs to be done in stages...focusing on healing one organ at a time and the intestines are the best place to start! maybe i am wrong but it's worth a shot!
i just came across this site talking about ways to help heal LGS as well:

this one puts a ton of emphasis on enzymes to aid digestion.
