don't worry about it....

Drofinnah, it's ok.

For me, the kudzu serves as part of my "maintenance" routine, just like improved diet, exercise, good sleep, etc. In the spiritual vein, I have already spent a few years working with therapists (shrinks) in dealing with my mental issues, so really I've put a well-rounded effort into my recovery.

In your last message you suggested that I am using kudzu for withdrawals. I don't think I've been withdrawing, althought the herb is supposed to be good for that, too. Actually, a few years ago, I graduated from being a 5 night-per-week drunk to being a "weekend warrior" as you put it. ((The reason for that was because I didn't want to lose my job. For me, the threat of losing my job was a wakeup call. Before that, any night of the week was a good night to get drunk.))

However, the real breakthrough for me was finding curezone, a few months ago. For example, (and as I posted in my very first message on this AA forum) I learned from the Depression forum that I was defficient in serotonin, which is thought to lead to sleeplessness, depression, irritability, feelings of disconnection, feelings of helplessness, and possibly contribute to alcoholism. That description right there describes the past decade of my life. I started taking 5-HTP (a serotonin precursor), and this has enabled me to get at least 7 hours of quality, unbroken sleep each day, with intense dreams, too. The last time I had that was when I was a teenager. As a result, I've been feeling better, and my Depression has been steadily fading. Things which used to depress me or piss me off, just bounce right off... Also, there are recent moments where I've been walking around with a big grin on my face, just because I feel whole, healthy, good, etc. The people at work have noticed this difference, but they don't know what it is, heh, heh, heh.

So no, I never thought of kudzu as being the sole agent responsible for my sobriety (and overall health), but it's definitely one of the big ones, and definitely irreplaceable. In addition to kudzu, I've got the 5-HTP, good sleep, improved diet, liver flushing, oil-pulling, exercise, and last but not least, friends. However, if I have to take kudzu for the rest of my life in order to stay sober, that thought doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm going to have to take a multi-vitamin pill for the rest of my life anyway, so I don't see why an extra pill or two each day is such a big deal.

Hope that helps!

:-)
