no period yet

Ok, I'd been taking my pills, was due for my annual in march, therefor my last pill refill was for february. I thought I had a pack for March, so therefor I postponed going in to the Dr. for my check up and prescription. Febuary was fine, my period came as normal. Then March came and thats when i realized the pack I had wasn't a full pack, but I began it anyways, and just figured Id have to use half another pack when I got my new prescription. My boy friend and i had unprotected sex during March, when i was still on the pill. I decided to just finish that half pack I began, wait for my period, and then go get my annual. Well, my period never came, I took 2 home pregnancy tests and both came out negative. I then went to get my annual last wednesday, and their pregnancy test came out negative as well. The doctor thinks the delay might be due to the interruption in my pill taking, but she asked me to wait 2 weeks without any sexual intercourse, if still no period to go in and get another pregnancy test because it might have been too early to detect a pregnancy. Its been almost a month since my BF and I had had intercourse, but Im still going to wait the 2 wks recommended by the doctor. my question is, is it too early to detect a pregnancy, its almost a month? Or id it possible my period is just late because of the break in my pill schedule? Its been a really frustrating situation, not being able to do anything and waiting. And to make matters worst, Id been consuimng alcohol when I had been going out, because it never crossed my mind that I might be pregnant, until I realized my period was late. Whats can I do other than just wait?
