idiopathique acute pancreatits
Hi I'm happy to see a forum on pancreatis because i think most general doctors dont acknowledge that it even exists I have had 6 acute pancreatic attacks in the last 3 months and just recently got diagnosed acute pancreatits on my last attack. I've been precribed all kinds of acid reducing medicines and I was having attacks while using the medicine. So what did they do? up the dose, too much acid... 4 different doctors. I recently went to Quebec to visit my family and had an attack. Now I dont know about the rest of you but when it stricks it stricks and its scary because after having 4 attacks I realise what was going to happen, I was going to be sick for a couple days and not be able to eat or drink and go threw constant pain. Went to the hospital down there and I was amazed that they immediatly got me a blood test in a small town hospital and then shipped me to the city to see a gastro whatever its called specialist. Got x-ray's,catscan, endoscope (wheeee the dreaded endoscope), blood test after blood test. Put on I-V for 3 days and got better now I dont know a whole lot about pancreatits but I must admit at least I was happy to be properly diagnosed and on the right track.
My problem now is I can feel inside my body that im not recovered and that it may happen anytime again. But after reading some of you guys's notes im going to make sure to get regular blood test. I was smoking but have quit while I spent 3 days in emergency observation and dont plan on restarting. It's been 10 days since my last attack hoping to never have one again! Im 26 years old, i find it sucks to live in fear of what you eat and when will the next attack be? Has anybody had more than one attack and then suddenly not have one for years? Oh! I also had a grown spleen (15 cm) is that common for any of you? Thanks and hope to see much more on this message board.
