Morgellon experience/antibiotics
Awhile ago, I spent a night at my friends place and he keeps a window open so his cat can come and go as he pleases, unfortunately alot of nasty stray cats also come in to eat free cat food. Three nights later, back at my place, i woke up in the middle of night to a bite feeling on the back of my head. I grabbed something moving in my hair, and turned the light on to see it was a tick and killed it (probably from one of those nasty stray cats). Later I developed a rash on the back of my head, and then an INTENSE itching/biting feeling on my scalp. Treated worthlessly for lice. Eventually it went away but then i started losing feeling in the back and top part of my head. Lots of other neurological symptoms eventually developed before I self diagnosed and saw a lyme literate doctor at the jemsek clinic. Everything I have read says they are very similar diseases and perhaps Morgellons is a new or rare co infection with lyme. Despite huge improvement, I still have not had one positive test for lyme or abnormal blood test in general (aside from a raised white blood cell count once).
Made up and down progress with just doxycycline, then Biaxin and doxycycline did some help although i had a increase my own dosage to 1500mg Biaxin and 600mg doxy a day (for max cns penetration), personally i felt from reading ilads.org that 600mg of doxy if tolerable should be prescribed. I made a huge improvement, I think, when i finished my remaining amoxicillin while also taking biaxin and doxycycline, about 4000mg for three or four days before i ran out. Im gonna try that three combo again if possible. Minocycline didnt do much for me aside from side effects of confusion, dizziness, and more blurry vision, and i was too scared to take levoquin. I had heard that morgellons patients have success with doxy and ivermectin so I ordered some ivermectin and it seems to be kicking some butt so far (but also increasing symptoms because of die off) Im only on my second dose of 6mg twice a day, so hopefully this will help in the long run and be tolerable in the long term. Also tried mebendazole since morgellons is supposed to have some worm component and could only take it every three or four days because it upset a nerve in my back that was already upset, felt some tingling in unrelated areas which i hope is feeling returning because neurological side effects are not listed for this or very closely related drugs.
Let me know if anyone else is having success with other
Antibiotics or legitimate regimines.
P.S. Lyme literate doc wants me to try Septra soon
