Carol, this most certainly does not sound like it should be classified as a heel spur, and so I would not recommend going about any standard heel spur treatments. As others are providing possibly solutions, remember to always refer everything back to your doctor - and as it appears your doctor is not a specialist in this area? Am I correct? Maybe you should seek out another doctor who is a specialist in that area. That is what I advise, and I am very knowledgable with Heel Spurs, Plantar Fasciitis, and other forms of Heel Pain.
