really need advice asap

I really need some information regarding any alternative therapies anyone has come across for ALS. A friend of mine was just diagnosed and western medicine tells him there really is no hope. We are all trying to find out any information someone may have regarding alternative medicine, herbal remedies, etc. It seems that time is not on our side either so any advice would be helpful.
