Re: Spring Cleaning
I'd like to reduce my reactions to certain foods. I have a number of
food intolerances that are driving me crazy - eventhough I cook/make almost everything myself and eat only those foods that I know I can handle.
I think I am fairly healthy - I haven't had any 'real bad food' in years and years. The last time I went to a Fast Food Place was because a 'date' wanted to take me there before going to the movies and that was probably about seven years ago. I quit wheat,
preservatives ,
food coloring s, as well as a ton of other things four years ago and haven't touched them since. I eat a fairly balanced diet, exception was in the months prior to the last fast in which I ate a fair amount of homemade cookies/chocolates/etc. That got me to the point where I had nightmares, migraines, and other discomforts very often. After the last fast I tried doing the Zone Diet but I do not do well on it. It's easier and better for me to actually count calories, as then I can truly decide what I want to eat when always staying in the range I need to be at. After the last fast I continued to lose a little bit of weight. With the Zone Diet I struggled because of the huge amounts of vegetables you need to eat. One evening I was sitting there with a whole head of cauliflower (1 C) and that REALLY turned me off eventhough I really love veggies.
I had bought a couple of cookbooks and interestingly enough they are almost all incorrect in the measurements. I checked proteins, carbohydrates and fats on all packaged products and they were never according to what the cookbooks said. That meant I had to start from scratch. One example is that they said 3 slices of turkey bacon would be one protein. The turkey bacon I had, had 7 grams of protein per slice. One cookbook said 1
oz of ricotta would equal 1 protein, another one said 2
oz. Then I looked on the package and the correct one is 2
oz. If there's no proper logic to it, I have difficulties... But that's just me. :-)
I did one
Liver Flush in betweeen the two fasts and will do one once I come off of this fast. I will most likely break on Mar 8, 2006.
