Hi! Dog lover,
I love miniture Daschounds and hot peppers. Now to your questiopn. The heat units for peppers are rated by the SCOVILLE UNITS. You said that you had some CAYENNE that were 90,000 units and saw some that were 45,000 units. That shows that some peppers of the same kind can have different degrees of heat.
AFRICAN BIRD PEPPER is one of the hottest, followed by the SCOTCH BONNET/HABANERO,then the JALJPENO and CAYENNE and many others above and below on the heat scale. I just bought some JALAPENO peppers thinking they were going to be hot. But I had one for breakfast and it wasn't even warm.I have noticed that the heat range changes at different times of the year and where they come from.
Hope this helps you to understand more about peppers. Perhaps you may want to learn even more. web cite pepper joe . com.
Sincerely I C L
