Why this national park is known as Tadoba?


Tadoba, the name has been derived from Tadoba lake and God Tadoba. The interesting past of Tadoba is the God Tadoba was also known as “Taru”. According to the mythical belief of the villagers, Taru was the ruler “The Gond king” in the vicinity of Chimur and Chandrapur and was killed during the encounter with Tiger. The shrine is dedicated to God Taru near Tadoba lake and is frequently visited by adivasis.
