Re: Keep waking up after 3 hours

The solution for

You have a sleep disorder known as "early awakening insomnia", and I used to have that pretty much every night.

> Can anyone suggest information on why this is happening?

Your system is lacking serotonin; and you're not the only one; there are many who lack serotonin.

> I can't seem to find anything specific

1) In my experience one remedy is a rigid food and supplement regimen. In other words, you won't have this early awakening insomnia, if your foods and supplements are exactly the same every single day.

2) Melatonin has also worked for me. However, of Melatonin you will need to take increasingly larger and larger doses, which makes the Melatonin an unreliable sleep aid.

3) The amino acid Tryptophan should also work, and has worked for many people. However it is an ineffective sleep aid, if you take it with any of your protein foods.

4) In the last four days what has worked was 50 mg 5-HTP which I take just before my bedtime. The 5-HTP has been the perfect solution for me because it has allowed me to postpone my protein meals till my bedtime. This way I no longer wake up after three hours, and no longer need to use the bathroom every three hours.

> Why does it work?

Because the 5-HTP raises your serotonin level.

I hope this helps.
