Iodoral and sleep...help, please!
Hi all, I'm new to this forum and am not sure if it's still active or not? But I figured I'd try posting just in case. I have been taking
Iodine (Iodoral 12.5 mg tablets) for about a year now. I have Hashimoto's and am hypothyroid. I also only have half of my thyroid left. I was taking 25 mg of Iodoral for like 6-9 months and was doing great (at this time I was not on any kind of thyroid medication such as levothyroxine). Then I started trending hyperthyroid, and so I backed off of my Iodoral to 6.5 mg. Then I went severely hypothyroid. I'd also like to note that I was going through a very stressful time with our adoption, and so I think my cortisol levels were high.
So, I got on 50 mg of levothyroxine and for the last 2 months, I've been taking that, 37.5 mg of iodoral, and everything recommended in The
Iodine Crisis protocol except for the ATP Cofactor. My sleep was great, and I was feeling so much better. Then two weeks ago, I added in the ATP Cofactor, and then I had my menstrual cycle last week. Since the beginning of my cycle, my sleep has been off again -- I go to bed fine, but I wake up at 5 am every morning and feel tired still. If I pulse my
Iodine for two days, I sleep like a baby on my second night off of it. I'm not sure if I should continue to come down on iodoral to 25 mg? I'm not sure what is going on, but I'd love any feedback anyone might be willing to offer. Added symptoms are anxiety and waking up hot... not sure if I'm trending hyperthyroid again, if my stress levels are up (side note: my husband is furloughed because of coronavirus and that's been an extra stressor), or if it's the iodine...or all 3.
Thanks in advance for your feedback!
