Consuming bloodroot powder without capsules?

I have a pound of blood root I am going to start taking internally per Dr. Kelly Raber's protocol.
Dr. Raber's protocol used capsules.

I have read it can be made a tea also. Does anyone have experience just dissolving the power in water and drinking?
Obviously I will be starting VERY SLOWLY.
