following the lord is a process.

Isaiah 28
9
Whom shall he teach knowledge?
and whom shall he make to understand doctrine?
them that are weaned from the milk,
and drawn from the breasts.
10
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept;
line upon line, line upon line;
here a little, and there a little:
11
for with stammering lips and another tongue
will he speak to this people.
12
To whom he said,
This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest;
and this is the refreshing:
yet they would not hear.
13
But the word of the Lord was unto them
precept upon precept, precept upon precept;
line upon line, line upon line;
here a little, and there a little;
that they might go, and fall backward,
and be broken, and snared, and taken.

14
Wherefore hear the word of the Lord,
ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
15
Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death,
and with hell are we at agreement;
when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us:
for we have made lies our refuge,
and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16
therefore thus saith the Lord God,
Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone,
a precious corner stone, a sure foundation:
he that believeth shall not make haste.
17
Judgment also will I lay to the line,
and righteousness to the plummet:
and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies,
and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18
And your covenant with death shall be disannulled,
and your agreement with hell shall not stand;
when the overflowing scourge shall pass through,
then ye shall be trodden down by it.
19
From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you:
for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night:
and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.
20
For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it:
and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.

and those who are unwilling must reap what they sow instead.

my life seems to you, does it? thats a pretty neat trick. i dont think anything about your life. i go by who you are. i know who i am talking to because i know myself. and i know my god. if you remember, my entire beef with the Christianity Forum to begin with was that it did not know god. that it claimed to believe the bible but really didnt. i could tell. thats all. the things being said were not true.

i went to the baptism of an 8 year old boy into the mormon church today. they said the right things. they did the right things. the young man was provided a right of passage and an acceptance as a child of god into the kingdom of heaven by all those who love him and are always there for him. i saw nothing wrong with what these people were doing. i see that there needs to be more it. would i join the mormon church? no. i wouldnt last five minutes. i cant condemn them, either. there is no law against love.

my favorite part, besides obeying jesus by following him in baptism, was this childrens song we sang:

I’m Trying to Be like Jesus

Lyrics

1. I’m trying to be like Jesus;
I’m following in his ways.
I’m trying to love as he did, in all that I do and say.
At times I am tempted to make a wrong choice,
But I try to listen as the still small voice whispers,
“Love one another as Jesus loves you.
Try to show kindness in all that you do.
Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought,
For these are the things Jesus taught.”
2. I’m trying to love my neighbor;
I’m learning to serve my friends.
I watch for the day of gladness when Jesus will come again.
I try to remember the lessons he taught.
Then the Holy Spirit enters into my thoughts, saying:
“Love one another as Jesus loves you.
Try to show kindness in all that you do.
Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought,
For these are the things Jesus taught.”
