half slippers for acupressure weight loss
There's something we all want: beautiful, young legs! As we age, our legs are actually the body part that we have the MOST control over. My legs, now in my 40's, look the same as they did in my 20's.
If you think about it:
The bones in your legs haven't changed. The skin on your legs is more taunt than anywhere on your body. Of all places, we carry the least amount of fat on our legs, too.
What makes legs look less lovely as we get older, is lack of muscle tone. And we have full control over that!
When I was at the worst of my chronic fatigue, I got very little exercise. I saw an enormous change in my legs. They went from svelte and muscular, to ...well just legs.
The definition was all gone.
They looked like how a child draws legs...just two sticks haha
As I got better, I started walking again, and my muscle tone improved. But my bunions got worse!
Then I had a memory. When living in Asia, I had several conversations with girls about half slippers.
The clog part is because the base is an
inch and a quarter high.
When I first started wearing them, my legs felt SO sore! You are balancing in every direction when you walk. Your calves, thighs and butt, work hard! I was sore for about a week.
I could only wear them for 10 minutes at a time, (I'll explain later). But now these are all I use when I'm inside!
Here's why they are such a neat invention:
1. They work out your legs like nothing you could ever imagine! The muscles get super strong, all the way up to your waist.
A surprising benefit was my flexibility in gymnastics improved.
I believe it is because my legs/butt are more balanced.
Before using them, I was using the same muscles all the time. Now I'm using ALL my muscles equally. That produces less stress on single muscles, so now they stretch better!
2. As soon as you stop walking your heal comes down to the ground. This produces an amazing stretch, just like when you stretch your calves on a step, lowering your heal below the step.
This is the major reason my bunions improved- I'm doing that calf stretch 100's of times a day!
3. My arches no longer hurt. Along with my calves stretching, my arches also stretch. I've had pain in my arches so bad that I couldn't walk!
And I was advised by a foot specialist that if I continued walking when I felt that pain, that I would actually RIP something! Yikes! Anyway...one less thing to think about!
4. This one is the most fascinating! When you stop moving and your heal comes down, the bottom of your arch is resting on a ledge. That's where your small intestine and colon acupressure points are!
Wearing these clogs stimulates your digestion reflexology points. This can speed up garbage leaving your system. The result is, you detox faster, and lose weight.
Most girls who I talked to in Asia wore them for weight loss. I don't have experience with that part, because I've either not needed to lose pounds, or like now, I'm actively losing (from my Cuba trip).
So I can't say it's the clogs (half slippers).
But what I can say is:
MANY times I JUST put them on, and within a few minutes walking, I had to run to the washroom! haha
Without a doubt, they wake up your colon!
When you get a foot massage in Asia, they often tell you to use the washroom first. Otherwise, you will be running to the washroom just a few minutes into the massage.
All our acupressure points are in our feet!
The reason I could only wear them for 10 minutes at a time in the beginning, was because my colon was irritated from bread and dairy at the time. So the acupressure points were extremely tender. As my diet changed, those points can now take more pressure.
An older Dad told me a funny story. He said that he was with his young children at a rock acupressure park. It's a stone pathway that you walk on barefoot to stimulate your health and wellness.
He could only stand for a few seconds before he had to put his shoes back on. But his kids RAN around on it for an hour!
What's the difference? Due to age, his acupressure points were painful, because he wasn't as healthy as his kids are. They loved the feel, and kept saying it felt like a massage. To him it was just pain!
I walk on rocks (large gravel) whenever I can, in my moccasins. Some days, it feels amazing! When I am heavy into herxheimer, I have to walk slow and gingerly...
Testing out how sensitive your feet are is a good gauge to how your organs are doing :)
I also could only stand with my heal on the ground. I initially used them when doing the dishes. I could not walk in them, because they hurt my bunions.
But as my calves and arches became less tight, and my muscles much stronger, now my bunions are better than before.
So be very careful with clogs if you have bunions.
5. Your toes curl down, when you are standing still. This also balances our feet and legs. If you ever notice a baby, they constantly wiggle their toes forward and backwards. But as adults wearing shoes, this almost never happens.
It's all about balance! Our muscles need to be well stretched and in perfect posture, for our lymph to move properly (get garbage out of our system). It all comes back to detox!
