What has worked for me - fundamentally controlling your state
It's funny, when I was younger I really did think anxiety was a unique feeling to me, I just could not imagine anyone else was going through the same inner turmoil..Folks just seemed more in control. Well, experience will tell you that's not the case...one of the best drivers for overcoming anxious states have just been this: aging
The older I have gotten, the better suited I've become to address my youthful fears. Be it exam taking, opposite sex, public speak, social situations, confrontation...whatever the scenario. Life experiences are the gold standard in my mind, good reads and mindful techniques offer shortcuts however, which can prove to be invaluable.
Books on confidence, owning situations, and self-motivation are great tools to set you forward. Another helpful tool I have noticed, my physiology: Am I slouching, how's my voice tonality, eye contact, conviction in speech? Whether I am anxious or not, enforcing these physical traits can almost immediately get you out of state.
This is another key, setting your 'state', is your mood poor, are you on 'edge' all the time, too much adrenaline? Well, like any muscle in your body, if you constantly train your mind to be in reaction mode, highly elevated states of anxiety, then that is exactly what your body will be good at; being anxious...
I wrote a deeper dive blog post for this on my site and welcome everyone to come visit and provide any input, I am a firm believer of remediating these poor behaviors, your mind will soon follow:
