Too much iodine?
I decided to start taking 15 drops of
Lugol's 2% (I think that's about 45mg?) mixed with water yesterday morning. This is the highest dose I've ever taken. Before this the highest dose I ever did was 10 drops of 2%. I was a little scared of such a high dose, but felt I did enough research to conclude it couldn't permanently hurt me. It was calming, and seemed to help a bit with my brain fog. I also have chronic fatigue and I woke up with more energy which was nice. I finally felt like I was able to work hard at my job, but I did also noticed increased sweating.
I did the same thing this morning, 15 drops mixed with water after waking up in the morning. It's now night time and my heart rate is much faster than normal and it's making me uncomfortable. It got up to 90bpm earlier but is now around 70. I also feel an uncomfortable feeling in my throat. I'm not sure how to describe it, ever had something close to your throat and it made you uncomfortable, almost like a tightness in your throat? That's how it feels. I'm also getting anxiety, not sure if it's from the
Iodine or me worrying I took too much.
Anyway, what's going on here? Should I cut back on the iodine? My biggest reason taking it is me hoping it will help with my constant fatigue and gut problems, which I've had for about 4 years now. I'm 22 and constantly exhausted with awful brain fog, with lots of
food sensitivities . Last time I had my TSH tested was a year ago, and it came back normal. I'm worried that the
Iodine is causing hyperthyroid or something?
Also, probably important to note: I'm supplementing the
Iodine mixed in a glass of water in the morning after waking up on an empty stomach, and waiting 30 minutes until I eat. Also taking 400mg magnesium glycinate at night, 200mcg selenium, 1,000mg vitamin c at night, 5,000iu vitamin D, 100mg B vitamin complex, and a multivitamin. I don't do "salt loading" but I do eat a lot of salt.
