Water Fasting. Hypertension and meds

Dear Achus,

I am on day 10 of my 10 day water fast. I am a 58 year old female with an extra 20 pounds. I have lost 12 pounds so far on the water fast.

I started the Water Fast to get a grip on my hypertension. I have been on calcium channel blockers and aspirin. I also have ankylising spondylitis and Hashimotos disease. I take euthroxin, tertroxin and methotrexate, I took my meds the first two days of the Water Fast and BP was getting really low, so I stopped taking the meds. By day 5 and 6, my BP was up to 150/100 and I was feeling terrible so I decided to take 1/2 a calcium channel blocker. It did bring down my BP, but I felt HORRIBLE. I had acid reflux and vomiting for two days. So I decided not to repeat that. My BP has been average for these two days, but slowly creeping up again. Today it is now 139/100. My plan is to do this Water Fast for ten days and break the fast.

My question is, since my BP has not improved that much, should I carry on with the water fast? Or should I stop it and go completely WFPBNO (my plan anyway) and slowly bring it down. I have been vegan for 2.5 years, but have allowed myself to eat processed junk. My Arthritis has improved significantly with the vegan diet, but I realized these processed foods at highly addictive and way too high in sodium.

I REALLY appreciate any help you can give me.

Best Regards,
LeslieP
