Cranberry supplement making UTI symptoms worse???
Hi,
I have a history with kidney stones. Long story short, I began getting
kidney stones after a
root canal treatment. I must have contracted some sort of bacterial infection and now mostly suffer from
kidney stones in my right kidney after eating certain foods that are either high in calcium, fat, potassium, and or oxalate. Potato chips especially seem to trigger them 100% of the time. I must have had 20+
kidney stones by now, no kidding. They are definitely not healthy and I need to get rid of them once and for all before my kidney gives up on me.
I have high blood calcium and am still not sure of what exactly is causing my stones, but it definitely is some type of infectuous process that involves either bacteria and or digestive tract problems. I have taken several
Antibiotics which initially resulted in multiple white, red and black spots in my stools.
So, I got the idea of using cranberry supplements in hopes of treating my chronic UTI. The cranberry concentrate seems to have some sort of effect, but seems to worsen my symptoms. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing. From what I've heard it flushes out bad bacteria, which could be the cause of my symptoms right now, but on the other hand, they say that cranberry extract is high in oxalate. Which could also be a cause of my symptoms.
My UTI could also be caused by my prostate, but I'm not sure of that. I've seen a professional urologist and she thought the problem was caused by hormonal issues, so she sent me to an endocrinologist. The next doctor diagnosed me with low vit. D levels. I have several skeletal issues which include high blood calcium, osteopenia and arthritis. All of which, in my opinion, has to be caused by bacteria or parasites.
My main question: can I keep taking the cranberry supplement? Should the symptoms improve after a while? I sincerely hope that cranberry could be my long awaited miracle cure.
Thanks in any case
Ken
