softening the hard lens in nuclear cataract

How do we get cataract reversal eye drops into a hard lens with advanced nuclear cataract?
First, we soften it up by pre-treating it with other eye drops.
There has been much discussion of success against cataract with castor oil. Castor oil is known to soften hard tissue, but pure castor oil can cause damage to the cornea. So what alternatives are there to castor oil?

Maybe we can use EV06 eye drops which contain lipoic acid and choline. In tests, they made the lens softer in only 30 minutes. Wow!
EV06 was developed to treat lens hardening in presbyopia, by a company called Encore Vision. That company was recently bought by Novartis.
EV06 is said to soften the lens in presbyopia by "breaking disulfide bonds". Since disulfide bonds are also partly responsible for nuclear cataract, EV06 would not only soften the lens, it would start to improve the cataract as well. Very possibly, EV06 would make lanosterol eye drops work faster and better.
The problem is, as usual, it's all taking too long. Phase III clinical trials with EV06 for presbyopia are supposed to take place next year. But we need EV06 now. Not in 10 years time. Right now.
