Mineral water break ketosis?
Hi, I've been reading for a while but this is my first post.
Last year I water fasted and broke it on the 10th day. This was before my tongue cleared and hunger returned, but I needed to allow enough time to refeed before a function that was coming up. On that fast I got into keto about day 3 and stayed heavily in it the whole time (judging by keto strips)
This time I'm at the end of day 11 and intending to go for up to 15-16. Again I need to break it by then to allow at least one week refeed before a wedding. I know it isn't ideal, but I have a very active life with functions on every few weeks and my family aren't accepting of
Water Fasting so it is easier to just do it when I'm not around them.
Anyway, my tongue was coated as normal until about day 7 when I had a mineral water (Pellegrino) instead of the filtered water I normally drink. This had bicarb, sodium, potassium, magnesium, chloride in it.
On day 8 and 9 my energy levels were really low and my tongue started clearing. My weight loss also plateaued. Day 10 and 11 my energy is back a bit but I'm not thinking as clearly as I was on days 6 & 7 (had been experiencing 'cloudy brain' before I started the fast and am now feeling similar to that).
I'm wondering if the mineral water stopped ketosis and then I had the 'keto flu' again getting back into it?
The keto strips show that I'm in ketosis now, but lower on the scale than I was a few days ago.
In positive news, my
Psoriasis has cleared up a lot, but not completely yet. I really hope that I can finish that off in the next few days before I need to break. If not, I will probably try to resume the fast next month.
