Mederma or other scar reduction meds for callus reduction?

I have painful calluses that just keep regenerating rapidly. I am finding myself having to use a sharp razor edge rasp once to twice a week on the back edges of my heals. Skin peals and other things are nice, but only last about 1 to 2 weeks and then it's all back again.

Has anyone tried Mederma, Kelo Cote or something that is designed for scar reduction or removal to treat problem callus areas?

I once had a thick callus and a doctor injected it with a steroid and now that patch of skin is the flattest and softest skin on my entire body. I'm wondering if there are other options for callus areas that would help to reduce their thickness and pain on either a long term or permanent basis.
