Liver function/Gastritis
Hi,
I have a long time gut infection of citrobacter freundii, which I'd long presumed to be candida but isn't. Treatment doesn't actually seem that complicated, except after years of illness and trying this and trying that my liver is operating extremely poorly. My enzymes are fine, but I get lots of burning and pain in the gallbladder area and then wrapping around the side. I don't tolerate liver support herbs (or any herbs at all anymore). With just a couple drops of milk thistle I get extreme detox and then pain and extreme agitation (hours of pacing and unable to calm down). With other herbs I get the agitation. Even slight amounts of die-off cause a lot of problems for my liver. Right now all I can manage for supplements is a light probiotic. I'm working with an acupuncturist to build up my liver, but in the meantime my infection is getting worse.
My GP now thinks that I may also have gastritis, and perhaps even a chance of a developing peptic ulcer. I would presume that my stomach acid is poorly regulated. How would you recommend proceeding with this? I've read that little stomach acid will also cause liver problems.
I've thought about adding HCL (which I've taken in the past, but not when my liver was as it is right now). However, I'm scared of 1) aggravating the gastritis and 2) causing a die-off reaction though changed ph.
Any thoughts?
