Pray without ceasing.

pauls admonition is easily practiced when one realises what it means. jesus said the thoughts were as real as actions and words. praying without ceasing is the consciousness that god hears every thought you have. its a principle. unlike adam, you cant hide. that was the sin of adam - hiding himself from god. my mom used to put it to me this way - "if youre going to do something dont sneak around and do it. i cant stand a sneak."

as for the old testament, its alive and forever. its just not understood.

Job 31:33
