What is an activist ??

Exactly what is an "activist" ?? I invite your input.

I'll start with my view that an activist is one who engages in some form of "activism". But, isn't being active just a normal thing to do ? What is the alternative to activism ?? "Sit-on-your-ass-all-day-ism" ? Do-nothing-ism ? I'd suggest that being an activist is normal, if you're a cop you're an activist against crime, if you're a preacher you're an activist against the devil, if you're a mother, you're an activist against dirty diapers.

What if you're sick ? Then you either degenerate and suffer before dying, or you become an activist in favor of your own health.

I tend to believe that my health and well-being depends on my neighbors' health and well-being. I mean, if my neighbors and over half the people driving around in cars are taking at least one prescription drug regularly and their attention span is on the order of eight seconds, isn't it in the interests of my and my family's pursuit of happiness to at least work towards not being surrounded by sub-clinical mental cases ?

Can people be motivated to take better care of themselves, without handing them a bag of money, bribing them, or threatening them one way or another ?

I think the best medicine for the downtrodden, that the West now appears to have become, is for some Activist to come along and teach people how to themselves be Active, stand up for what's right and do good for the community instead of being so greedy and self-centered, unloving of their brethren. Is it in our code, to not give a shtt about one another and be so divided ??
