Re: Fresh dandelion greens
This was a private message that I got from somebody on the group in response to my pressure:
"I'm a Chinese herbalist, so, my explanation uses that metaphorical language. if you rule out pesticides (unlikely) and coincidental cold/flu symptoms, you’re left with the plant itself.
Dandelion is thermally and energetically cold. this essentially means that is promotes a state of hypofunction. of course it increases some functions, like gastric acid secretion, etc, but on the whole, it more drains and clears. this bitter, draining quality is hard on some digestive function. this will create a relative state of cold in the digestive system. the body’s ability to maintain warmth on the surface depends upon warmth and fluid generation internally. so, if you take something that cools the interior, and then experience exterior cold symptoms (the headache in this case is due to cold - cold causes constriction), this implies that the interior is weak relative to what was ingested. So, you either took a lot of something that is weakening, or your digestion is a touch on the weak side. look for confirming symptoms of gas, bloat, loose BM, lack of appetite, tiredness, etc.
You can try some tea made from fresh ginger root (warming). if that makes the head pressure go away, then you know."
Thanks MH and others, I have eaten a handful of flowers in one sitting and I love all of the plant. I actually did water this plant multiple times so maybe it remembered me and who knows if plants have intelligence? Maybe it knew I was not going to hurt it, and I keep watering it every few days, because there is also an awning covering it so it rarely gets water. I want to pull it up but it's not going to be easy, in a sidewalk crack and building foundation with zero soil. I plan on making a tincture of the root this year, and eating a fresh whole root to cleanse my liver on days off work, with a couple days to recover just in case.
