The link just takes me to the logon, and I've checked my account settings and preferences - no ads has long-since been my option and, suddenly, they are visible. 

Oh, well............nothing's perfect. :-)

Update - I had to REset my preferences, and "update" them in order to hide the ads.  It does work, but I had to do it all over, for whatever reason.
