Confused about safety of castor usage as eye drops

Hi everyone,

I've been reading about castor oil and its potential benefits for curing cataracts.

However, I've also read that castor oil can be very irritating to the eyes. The bottom line seems to be that some people say castor oil is safe to put in the eyes as drops, while others so it's an absolute no-go ... This is pretty confusing.

The brand I have bought is the 'heratidge products organic castor oil' ... it is hexane free, cold pressed and pesticide free.

It seemed like a good product, however the label says to AVOID contact EYES and that the oil is for EXTERNAL use only

Can anybody shed some light on if castor oil can indeed harm the eyes ?

Thank you,
Alex
