Iodine Stain On Skin

I have painted Iodine (Lugol's 5%) on a couple of white scars repeatedly until the skin started peeling. I would then paint it about once or twice a day and it would burn and irritate it a bit. I then decided to let it heal and see how my scar looked underneath.

Neither of my scars improved and now I'm worried because the first scar has been left alone for about a month now and there has been a red stain where the Iodine was ever since. When will this red discoloration around my scar go away? My scar wasn't very noticeable before but now it is with the discoloration bringing it out 😓
