I just went through that!

I had a very tough root canal and crown in 1998 and just recently the tooth started throbbing - although there was no root, I could still feel it pulsating.

Off to the dentist I went! There was an infection growing in the (now hollow) root. It's true that bacteria can grow if there's any leak in the crown. So they had to remove the crown and essentially retreat the root by coring it out. I also had to take a bunch of Antibiotics .

Please don't wait - go to the dentist and get that tooth x-rayed. If there's an infection, the doc will be able to see it (as I did). I thought once crowned, no problem - boy was I wrong.

Best of luck!

Melanie
