cataract surgery is our 'bread-and-butter'

For 100 years, we've been fattening this cash cow. And for 100 years, to keep the cow alive, they've been very sly - making no attempt to treat cataracts so that they get to the point where surgery is the only recourse to save us from going blind. But now, there's talk that there will be human trials of anticataract eyedrops 'in the next few years'. Or will there? Are they just playing for time, and playing us for suckers? How many more years do you think they'll try to keep the cow alive? How many more years will the world be denied a cataract treatment? How many more years will people have to struggle with the decision to undergo surgery and lose their natural lens, or live with a debilitating condition? How many more years will the surgery, despite its 'successes', leave a trail of visual cripples in its wake? It's your turn to guess - 1,2,5,10 or 50 years? Now here's a fun quiz. Which of the following, although they had both the responsibility and the means of honoring that responsibility, did little or nothing - for the last 100 years - to develop a medical treatment to cure cataract blindness without exposing patients to surgical risk? 1. Kentucky Fried Chicken 2. Starbucks 3. The Beatles 4. Chemists and biochemists 5. Elvis Presley 6. President Obama 7. The eye profession 8. Bill Gates 9. Beauty therapists 10. The Gardening Association of America Did you get it right? If you've got cataracts, how much longer are you going to let them force you to have surgery, or lose your sight? How much longer are we going to let them get away with it? Please, for humanity's sake, pick up the phone, call the newspapers and give them the whole story. Then call a lawyer to start a class action to fast-track anticataract eye drops. Thankyou.
