Could this be Chagas?
Hello, newbie here.
Here's my story.
7 yrs ago we noticed some kissing bugs in the house. They seemed to be coming in the window by my husbands large raised bed garden which is attatched
To the side of the house.
I was annoyed and someone told me they were kissing bugs. I figured they were a squash bug and wasn't afraid, just annoyed.
One day I accidentally grabbed one and it bit me hard.
Soon after (don't remember timeline) we went on our first cruise.
On the first day of the cruise I got what I thought was a violent allergy on my face.
I popped Benedryl like Pez with no help.
I also said this can't be an allergy because I have a fever.
We went to the ships dr and was told insurance wouldn't pay and it was a long wait.
The nurse said it looked like an allergy to her.
We didn't want a big expense for an allergy so we left.
Pina Coladas made me feel better.
But the next day my face was beet red and had blisters. My joints were very painful and I was miserable.
Back to the ships doctor, but when we got there he was doing CPR!
So we left.
I remembered days as a child when I would blister in the sun. Maybe that was the problem.
I popped Motrin and blew it off.
By the time we got home it was subsiding but I went straight to my dr. I saw his PA who gave me steriods and said whatever it was is going away. She comemmented that my skin was too fragile for steriod cream so gave me pills.
It all went away. I also found 2 tick heads that I assumed I had gotten from laying in the sun before we left. We have seed ticks and they are easy to miss.
So...now I hear about Chagas!!! Yikes!
What to do? Can they even diagnose this late in the game?
And if so, can they even treat it?
Am I way off base to thi k such a thing.
