Re: Sertraline effects on candida virulence

Yes, the sertraline has an effect on the virulence of candida, affecting its ability to maintain a hyphal (fungal) state, produce damaging enzymes, and spread through the tissues.

You have to weigh that against the damaging effects of sertraline that can include suicidal thoughts, aggression, loss of consciousness, vomiting, incontinence, insomnia, depression, chest pains, ejaculation failure, fatigue, headaches, rashes, hives, back pains, visual disturbances, and a very long list of other possible symptoms. The long-term effects of sertraline use are not studied or known. Depletion of neurotransmitters - serotonin, dopamine, epinephrine, norepineprine, etc., occur with use. Toxic effects to the liver are known.

Women taking sertraline for depression, and who also just happened to have recurrent vaginal infections, were shown to be helped by sertraline.
