catch 22

Hello All,

I have the Ax Glax forum. Been here since 2002 when I nearly died from hep C. Thanks to all the support and wisdom I gleaned here I saved my own life, and it looks like it's time for me to do that again...

I have all the symptoms of primary hyperparathyroidism that are listed on the http://www.parathyroid.com website. But I cannot get my primary care physician to refer me to an endocrinologist because my blood calcium levels are not elevated and my PTH levels are normal.

But they did a 24 hour urine catch and I have Osteopenia.

I think the reason I have normal PTH and blood calcium levels is because I started having symptoms of hardening of the arteries a couple of years ago, so I went and got chelation. It helped a lot and chelation gets calcium out of the arteries.

I also had some symptoms that I thought might be thyroid related, so I took some thyroid calming herbs and that really helped my cough, and I am wondering if those herbs are also regulating my PTH.

All I know is the herbs are not working as well as they used to and I am feeling like crap and the doctor says all my tests are normal, but I have all the symptoms of hyperparathyroid. I even have a lump in my neck that hurts.

I am tempted to go to the emergency room and see if they can do something about this. I feel miserable. Does anyone know if thyroid calming herbs also calm a parathyroid gland? Or how to get treatment? Does anyone know a good surgeon in Austin?
