Re: Glax....
"better" is of course higjly subjective and often personal. Taste in eat/drink, sound, study, wants, politics or generally likes/dislikes knows no universally accepted (or mandated, yet) agreement of what better is or what is better.
The late Robert Jordan AKA James Rigby said there often is no accounting for one person's taste. He often wrote this in the context of what a woman or man found attractive/desirable in the opposite but this innate characteristic can certainly apply to the wide realm of tastes a person adopts or otherwise acquires. He died before finishing his epic novel and happened to do so prior to the increasingly tolerant tastes of socialized communities mandating that even fictional works are obligated to give print/air time to modernized diverse tastes outside the realm of opposite attraction.
In the context of your comments, you are or would consider leaving home here in America for better politics there in Thailand or Ecuador or wherever you may hope to find better . Here I mean "America" in the original, non-corporate sense but I suspect that you won't find better there but will find a better appreciation of being on the receiving end of (corporate) America's far-flung tax dollars at work.
Personally, my belief is that I was born into and belong to non-corporate Team America, engaged in a game of life or death consequences against corporate Team America. Yes, the who & what animating the latter controls the grid on which this game is being played, it conspires, lies, cheats, murders and has great resources domestic and international to draw upon that favor its victory which appears certain but I have no want or desire to abandon the team I belong to. Yes, it is nice to be on the winning team but there is also satisfaction of continuing to fight and play the losing battle when you know in your heart you fight for, at and on the right side. I intend to stay here and die here with no illusion of finding a better place from which to view or participate in the SAME game.
Be this as it may, there seems to be enough freedom still available to those so minded who want to find / go to a better place, Best of luck with this.
