Re: Creatures coming out of head dream
Despite some of its imagery, I believe that this is a positive dream.
As written by the dreamer, “The dream itself contained all sorts of themes that usually run through my other dreams….” Here is the list with my comments:
1. Biking – the dreamer’s journey through life or through his psyche (aka the mind)
2. Going to a school – this is the school of life that we all attend
3. Walking through the mountains – Hiking in the mountains symbolizes the dreamer’s journey into the unknown parts of the psyche (that is, the unconscious – especially the collective unconscious)
4. Having food – This food is for strength and growth on the spiritual level
5. Attending classes – the dreamer is learning life’s lessons
6. Worrying about tests and homework – Feedback to the dreamer that lets him know how he is progressing
7. Secret passages – The lead to the unknown or unexplored parts of the psyche
Your parents probably do not represent your real-life parents. Using a Jungian approach, they would be an archetype from the collective unconscious. This pair is sometimes called the royal couple, the sacred marriage etc.
There are two sinks. Sinks are probably a good sign. A sink is used for cleaning someone or something. This is spiritual cleaning. There are two. They may be for the dreamer’s dream parents or perhaps the dreamer and another person.
The dreamer discovers a spider in his hair. When there is an animal in a dream such as a spider, I’ll typically take two approaches to understand what it means. I’ll look into the mythology of that animal and I will look at it relevant attributes. These attributes are: (1) it has eight legs, (2) it is poisonous and (3) it creates silk to spins its web. For this dream, the most important trait is probably its web making ability. OK now – so what do spider webs have to do with spirituality? Symbolically these webs have a couple of likely meaning:
(1) They symbolize the nadi, which are subtle channels within the body. Although not yet recognized or identified by western science, their existence has a long tradition in Hinduism. Energy flows through these nadis.
(2) These webs could also be related to shamanism. As the reader may know, the shaman makes spiritual journeys to other worlds. The webs could symbolize the routes traveled during these journeys.
The hair supports this nadi interpretation.
There is also an elephant-like creature. I’ll often interpret a dream elephant as a symbol of the first or fifth chakra. If the elephant symbolizes the first chakra, it usually faces to the right and has its trunk lowered. If the elephant is facing the left – especially if its trunk is raised – it is probably a symbol of the fifth chakra. Continuing with the chakra symbolism, yellow is associated with the third chakra.
Hope this helps
