Using aggressive intravenous treatments, Fata jacked up his billings and fraudulent claims to Medicare and insurance companies, solicited kickbacks from hospice centers for referrals of patients, and used those proceeds to administer more unnecessary and expensive PET scans (positron emission tomography) that he billed to private insurers.
